Please print and complete the patient information form and health history on this page. Bring them completed to your first visit, which will last approximately one and one-half (1 1/2) hours. This information plus your answers to several questions asked during your first visit form a comprehensive health history. When combined with your tongue and pulse readings, they give the practitioner a working understanding of your body systems and provide the basis of your TCM diagnosis and your treatment plan. Subsequent visits should last 45 - 60 minutes.
The needles used for acupuncture are pre-sterilized, individually packaged, and disposable for single use. The needles are very fine and flexible, much smaller than the stiff medical hypodermic needles. Most patients feel little or no sensation from needle insertion, but the patient should experience a tingling or heavy sensation when the needle makes contact with the channel, where Qi flows. This sensation is described as "de qi" and is an integral part of effective treatment.
Remember
- Please do not brush your tongue on the day of your appointment, and eat something one to two hours beforehand so that you will not be hungry.
- Subsequent visits will take approximately forty-five minutes to one hour.
